Day 1 – Arrival Erice

Today you’ll travel to the west coast of Sicily for a completely different view of the island. Take your time to explore the old town of Trapani, and don’t miss the chance to visit the iconic ‘Torre di Ligny,’ an ancient watchtower perched at the very tip of the country with breathtaking views of the vast expanse of the sea and the charming cityscape. You will sleep in a converted old monastery in Erice, a traditional village located on the side of the mountain, allowing for more great views. 

Day 2 – Trapani salt pans

Grab a traditional sweet breakfast this morning as the rest of the day is about the fascinating world of salt, also known as “white gold”. Trapani has been a hub for salt mining since the 12th century, and today you’ll delve into its captivating history and significance. This precious commodity was once used to compensate Roman soldiers, giving rise to the term “salary”. With a local guide, you will visit the 16th-century mill, ‘Mulino d’Infersa‘, and the surrounding salt pans dotted with Spanish windmills and glittering salt mountains. 

Day 3 – Departure Erice

Take another stroll through the narrow and medieval streets of Erice this morning, visiting the old monasteries and churches of the village, before packing up your things and saying goodbye to this corner of Sicily.You can then drive down the salt coast, to Marsala a beautiful town made all the more enjoyable with its delicious wine.
