Days 1-2 – Arrival at Vulcano, Aeolian Islands

Your island-hopping adventure begins at the charming town of Milazzo in Sicily, the perfect starting point for your journey to the Aeolian Islands. To ensure a relaxed experience, you’ll set sail on a leisurely afternoon ferry, allowing you to soak in the anticipation of the adventure ahead. After about an hour of sailing, with a delightful stopover on Lipari Island, you’ll reach the captivating destination of Vulcano. Upon arriving at Vulcano, you will be picked up at the port and whisked away to your delightful B&B, complete with a swimming pool to cool off in. Enjoy the convenience of being just a five-minute walk from the heart of the village. From here, you’ll have mesmerizing views of the volcano’s majestic peak.

It’s now time to relax and unwind in natural surroundings. This unique island is renowned for its geothermally heated mud and sulfur baths. While the unmistakable sulfur smell may take some getting used to, soon you’ll find yourself completely at ease as you sink into the warm, therapeutic baths. As the day unfolds, you have the freedom to continue your relaxation at the hotel or unwind on one of the stunning black sand beaches. For those seeking a bit of adventure, why not opt for an exciting kayak tour around the base of the imposing volcano? Paddle along the serene waters, marveling at the impressive landscape that surrounds you.

Days 3-4 – Boat to Stromboli

Today you’ll hop over your next island, Stromboli.  After a two-hour journey, the striking black lava beaches and picturesque wooden fishing boats of Stromboli come into view. As you arrive on the island, a friendly face will be there to greet you and escort you to your comfortable accommodation. You’ll be staying in a charming guesthouse, just a short fifteen-minute walk from the harbour.  If you want to enjoy the active volcano in the evening, head to L’Osservatorio, where you can enjoy a delightful meal while marvelling at the distant sight of the spewing volcano from the terrace.

Fuel up with a hearty breakfast the next morning, as it’s time for a thrilling hiking adventure, the best way to truly experience the wonders of the Stromboli volcano. The volcano’s nature can be unpredictable, and safety is of utmost importance, so there might not always be an organized trek to the crater. However, if conditions allow, brace yourself for an unforgettable journey. The trek may be a little tiring, but as the setting sun casts its golden hues upon the landscape, you’ll quickly forget any weariness. As you reach the summit, positioned at a safe distance from the crater, wait patiently for the eruptions and there is a good chance that you will witness the captivating sight of lava spouting upwards like a breathtaking firework display.

Day 5 – Departure from Stromboli

Time to leave the smaller islands and return to the godfather, Sicily. From Stromboli it is about three hours sailing to Milazzo, where you can continue your adventure.
