Today you’ll arrive at your luxury castle abode for the next few nights. As you drive up the cypress-lined road, the opulence of the castle becomes apparent, setting the stage for a truly majestic stay. The medieval furnishings of your room transport you back in time, and from your balcony, you are treated to breathtaking views of the rolling landscape, evoking images of the Middle Ages. Nestled about 6 kilometers from the village of Todi, your castle offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by the beauty of the Umbrian countryside. If you find yourself with a burst of energy, climbing Todi’s bell tower at the end of the day is a must. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with unparalleled views over the valley, a sight that will leave you in awe.
Day 2 – Castles and villages around Todi, South Umbria
Today is free for you to do as you please, but getting up and leaving early is advised, as there is a lot to see in the area. Even the journeys can take longer than predicted, as you take the time to drive past places with views of medieval castles and hilltop villages around Todi. Start in Orvieto, a charming town about an hour away, and walk among its colourful Duomo, atmospheric piazzas and flower-decked palazzos. In the narrow streets of the village, you will find several shops selling sandwiches and local cheeses for a picnic later in the day. After working up a sweat and climbing through castles, you can cool off in one of the various lakes that you will encounter along the way.
Day 3 – Departure Todi
After another breakfast at your castle in Todi, you can then either travel to the capital Rome in about 3 hours to fly home or continue your journey through the empire. You could travel further along the winding country roads and end up in Tuscany or Piemonte.
