
Day 1 – Arrival in Osa Peninsula
welcome to the south of the Osa Peninsula, high above where the Golfo Dulce meets the Pacific. Here, a secluded eco-lodge becomes your home for a few blissful days – a proper escape into Costa Rica’s wild southern rainforest. Set within a 750-acre private reserve, it’s ideal for nature lovers, romantics, or anyone keen to truly switch off. In the evening, before dinner, you’ll meet your guide for a relaxed walk around the lodge. A night hike reveals a completely different side of the jungle, as many creatures only come out after dark. With a torch in hand, you’ll help spot whatever appears along the way — from tiny, jewel-like frogs and impressive spiders to iguanas and the occasional exotic bird. It’s a fascinating glimpse into rainforest life after sunset.
Day 2 – Guided hike into the rainforest
After breakfast at the lodge you will set off hiking through the primary rainforest to experience the sheer majesty and diversity of an untouched ecosystem. Your guide will point out fascinating trees, plants, and animals, from army and leafcutter ants to tanagers, woodcreepers, anteaters, monkeys, and peccaries. You’ll see how every creature and plant, including giants like the Shoemaker Tree, relies on each other to thrive making it a perfect chance to appreciate the importance of biodiversity up close. In the afternoon step into the hotel’s lush garden on a guided birdwatching excursion, where trees, flowers, and bushes attract a dazzling array of wildlife. Late afternoon or an early morning start offers the best chance to see birds and butterflies in action. With a bird specialist leading the way, you’ll spot toucans, tanagers, parrots, macaws, and countless other species as they flit through the garden and nearby rainforest. It’s a tranquil, immersive way to experience the vibrant birdlife of the Osa Peninsula up close.


Day 3 – Early morning search for birds and monkeys
It’s an early start today as you join your guide for a morning excursion through the Bosque gardens and surrounding forest. The best time to see the wide variety of bird species, with over 350 recorded in the area, is between 6:00 and 7:30 am or later in the afternoon. On this tour, you will spot birds alongside monkeys, butterflies, and small mammals such as coatis and agoutis. Your guide will explain the behaviours and interactions of the birds and share insights into the rainforest’s delicate ecology. You will return to the lodge and have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 4 – Departure from Osa Peninsula
On your final morning at the lodge, enjoy a leisurely breakfast surrounded by the sights and sounds of the rainforest. Sip your coffee as birds flit through the trees and monkeys play in the canopy, taking in one last peaceful, immersive moment in the wild beauty of the Osa Peninsula before you depart.
