Day 1 – Arrival in Panama City
On arrival in Panama City you will be greeted in the hall by a representative of our local partner. They’ll be carrying a sign with your name on it and transfer you directly to your comfortable, modern hotel in the Obarrio district (or you could upgrade to a colonial-style hotel in the heart of the old town, Casco Viejo). You’ll spend two nights here and get well acquainted with the Panamanian hospitality. This area can be a bit noisy at times but you’ll be in close proximity to bars and restaurants.
Days 2-3 – Guided tour & departure
After breakfast an English speaking guide will take you through the historic district of Casco Viejo. Walk between restored colonial buildings, churches, squares, monuments and museums; it’s a great way to learn more about life in Panama. Whilst you’re here, you won’t want to miss the ‘eighth wonder of the world’, the famous Panama Canal.
After breakfast on day 3, this trip comes to an end, and you can continue your adventure from here.

Experience the Panama Canal
Do you want to see the famous Panama Canal up close? On this optional excursion, you head to Gamboa where you board a small excursion boat for a scenic journey along a section of this world-famous waterway. As you cruise through the canal, your guide shares stories about its history, how it works, and why it is so important for Panama today. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the forested banks as you pass impressive locks like Pedro Miguel and Miraflores. By late afternoon, you are driven back to your hotel in Panama City, with a much better sense of just how remarkable this engineering feat really is.
Please note: a full Panama Canal transit is also possible. Both options run on selected dates only, so let us know if you would like to include this.
