      5 days / 4 nights (flexible)

Time to tick an iconic destination off the bucket list! The Amazon is the largest and most species-rich stretch of tropical rainforest in the world and is known as the 'lungs of the world'. During this trip you'll travel from Manaus into the heart of the Amazon where you'll sleep at a lodge surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest. During your stay you'll trek through the jungle, fish for piranhas and meet the locals along the waterways. As night falls you'll climb into a wood-crafted canoe to search for the gleaming eyes of caimans.

Day 1 – Arrival in Manaus

Manaus is a large trade city and transit port for products originating from the Amazon. You’ll stay overnight here as most flights arrive too late to continue your journey into the rainforest. On arrival your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your Manaus hotel. The famous Opera House is within walking distance and is worth a look if you have a chance – its ornate roof is pretty impressive.

Day 2 – Journey into the Amazon

After breakfast, you’ll be collected from your hotel and will travel to your Amazon lodge by road and boat, along with any other guests checking in today. During the 2 – 2.5 hour journey beside the river the vegetation will become denser, until you arrive at the small jetty where you’ll board a boat for the final part of your scenic journey into the rainforest.

Your Amazon lodge offers a classic rainforest lodge experience, with rustic, palm-thatched cabanas surrounded by lush Amazonian nature. There’s a spacious restaurant, cosy lounge and bar, plus an observation deck overlooking the surrounding forest. You’ll stay in your own comfortable wooden cabana, surrounded by the forest.

All of your food is included – home-cooked using ingredients found locally. You’ll also have warm water and electricity….most of the time, this is the Amazon after all!

Days 3-4 – Exploring the Amazon

For the next couple of days you’ll be living the jungle life, waking up to the sound of the wild all around you. Your activities will vary depending upon the season, and also the weather during your stay – the Amazon is quite unpredictable of course! Your guide knows the jungle like the back of his hand, and can take you trekking, piranha fishing, wildlife spotting by boat and even searching for caiman at night. He’ll also tell you all about life on the Amazon, and introduce you to some of the people who call it their home.

Day 5 – Travel back to Manaus

Sadly it’s time to say goodbye to the Amazon, and you’ll be transferred back to Manaus airport (typically during the morning), in time for your onward flight.

If you’re not quite ready to move on and want to spend another night in the rainforest, let us know and we’ll add an extra night into your Travel Plan.
