Kuala Lumpur is a city of exciting extremes with a character that changes at almost every street corner. You’ll discover the city on a guided walk with a local who will show you beyond the tourist sites. There will also be time to explore at your own pace, soaking up the energy of the city.

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Malacca is a true cultural melting pot – it’s a small, easy-going city with a real mosaic of influences. During this trip, you’ll spend three days exploring Malacca, wandering through the narrow streets of Chinatown, strolling through chaotic night markets and sampling the extraordinary global cuisine. You’ll take a cycling tour to the nearby villages and countryside where you’ll find traditional lifestyles untouched by time.

Penang is an island-city that packs a real punch. A patchwork of Chinese, Indian and Malay cultures, it is bursting at the seams with character. During this trip, you’ll hop on a bike for a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Georgetown, the cultural heart of the city. Wander amongst the flower carts and tandoori stands of Little India, mosey past multi-coloured Chinese temples and sample some seriously tasty street food.

This jungle adventure is one of our most popular Malaysia trips. It’s a journey into Taman Negara National Park – the world’s oldest tropical rainforest and a well-known stop on the tourist trail. You’ll drift along twisting rivers lined with lush jungle, take a night walk to spot wildlife and nocturnal insects, and sleep in a wooden bungalow on the edge of the park. During the day, you can head out on guided walks or visit indigenous tribes living in the area.

Experience Taman Negara – the world’s oldest rainforest – without the crowds. Enter via a lesser-known route near Merapoh, stay in a simple but welcoming guesthouse, and head out with a local guide to explore hidden jungle trails, swim beneath waterfalls, and stroll through the treetops.

Discover Ulu Muda Forest Reserve – one of Malaysia’s best-kept secrets, a vast rainforest where elephants, tapirs and even tigers roam free. Stay in a simple jungle lodge, cruise the lake at sunset, and explore caves, rivers and salt licks with your local guide.

The Belum Rainforest is a remote wilderness tucked away in the north of the country. If you’re after a real rainforest adventure, you’ve found it. During this trip, you’ll explore the Belum Rainforest, trekking, monkey-spotting and drifting along gentle rivers. You’ll sleep in the rainforest’s only lodge and awake each day to a tropical dawn chorus.

Step back to nature with this remote rainforest adventure in the pristine jungles of Endau Rompin. During the day, you’ll trek through the jungle, spot wildlife and swim in hidden waterfalls. At night you’ll fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle.

The Cameron Highlands is a scenic region of rolling hills and green tea terraces sitting between 1,100 and 1,600 metres above sea level. The cooler climate drew British settlers here, and today it provides a refreshing break from Malaysia’s busy cities. You’ll spend two nights in the hills enjoying scenic views from your hotel and learning more about the humble cup of tea.

Step back in time and explore the cross-cultural heritage of Ipoh. This down-to-earth city blends Chinese and Indian influences with colonial buildings and a unique food scene. With your guide, you’ll uncover its varied history and taste a few culinary delights along the way.

Welcome to village life in the Kelantan region of Malaysia. Staying in a traditional wooden ‘kampung’ chalet hosted by a local family, you will be immersed in Malay culture, learning the art of batik painting at a nearby workshop on the outskirts of Kota Bharu.

Langkawi is a tropical paradise worthy of any postcard. With calm, turquoise waters, swaying coconut palms and soft white sands, it’s somewhere to kick off your flip flops and melt into a sun lounger. It’s by far the most popular beach destination in Malaysia but you can still find quiet stretches of sand and if you venture beyond the beaches, you’ll find character and culture.

If you’re looking for a Robinson Crusoe experience then look no further. White sands, turquoise waters and a laid-back island lifestyle await on the islands of Pulau Besar, Pulau Sibu and Pulau Rawa. Located off the East coast of mainland Malaysia, these tropical islands offer complete relaxation. Choose your preferred option or island hop between them.

The Perhentian Islands are a pocket-sized tropical paradise, with snowy white sands, clear turquoise waters, rustling palms and fiery pink sunsets. The scenery is also breath-taking below the water, where you’ll find thriving coral gardens bursting with exotic marine life. You’ll spend your time on Perhentian Besar wandering barefoot along the beach and exploring the underwater wonderland.

Tioman Island is all about beautiful beaches, crystal clear water and turtles. Every May to September, sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand, with any luck you’ll see them during your stay. The white sand beaches on Tioman Island are amongst the most beautiful in Malaysia and there are plenty of hidden waterfalls and jungle-topped hills for you to explore.

Pulau Redang is known for its long, wide sandy beaches, crystal clear water and easy snorkelling, with colourful fish close to the shore. It’s one of Malaysia’s more popular east-coast islands, so you won’t have the beach to yourself, yet the island maintains a low-key, relaxed, holiday vibe.

Pulau Pangkor is, without doubt, the best place for a truly authentic beach break in Malaysia. Just off the west coast, it’s a friendly hotspot for local holidaymakers at the weekends, and tranquil on weekdays. While the beaches may not be perfect in the traditional sense, the island has a very genuine vibe. Behind the beaches, there’s a lush rainforest just begging to be explored. It’s low-key, local and we love it.

Singapore is an unbelievably efficient maze of sleek skyscrapers, mega-malls and metro lines, it’s Asia’s most forward-thinking metropolis. Some may call Singapore too straight-laced, but we don’t agree. Beyond the sparkling pavements and shiny high rises, there’s an eclectic mix of cultures. Explore Chinatown, fall in love with the chaos of Little India and try some seriously tasty traditional dishes.
