Arrival in Okanagan Valley
Today you’ll drive to the sunny Okanagan Valley. This region is covered in fertile valleys and rolling hills full of vineyards and fruit trees. From Vancouver, it’s about 5 hours and you can stop at the Othello tunnels on the way. Here you can take a walk through the abandoned railway tunnels overlooking a wild river and the impressive landscape of the canyon. On arrival, you’ll check into your resort, close to bars, restaurants and the lake.
Wine Tasting Tour
Today, start your day with a hearty breakfast this will line your stomach for the wine tasting you’ll be doing later! Next, it’s time to head out on a wine-tasting tour of the local vineyards. You’ll visit 4 different vineyards, to get a true taste of all the variations of wine this region has. There are full red wines and white fruity wines all waiting to be sampled.
You’ll have lunch at one of the wineries during the tour. After 5 hours or so, you’ll be transferred back and the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. There are wide sandy beaches where locals and tourists like to sunbathe. Admittedly, it can feel a little strange being on a beach in Canada, but it’s still a relaxing experience. You can also do water sports such as windsurfing or water skiing here. For dinner, you can stop in one of the numerous restaurants and if you haven’t had enough, you can toast your day with another glass of wine!
Kettle Valley Steam Railway
Today you’ll adventure to Summerland and ride the historic Kettle Valley Steam Railway. The railway is a heritage line that was built in the early 1900s and shut down 60 years later. A section of the railway was re-opened and now runs from Faulder to Trout Creek. On this 90 minute journey, you’ll be taken along the only preserved section which offers picturesque sights and 10 miles of stunning views, from lush orchards and vineyards to a dazzling sight of the lake and surrounding land.

Departure from Okanagan Valley
Hopefully, your head doesn’t hurt too much this morning as it’s time to leave the sunny vineyards behind and embark on the next step of your Canada adventure. From here, we suggest heading to the Rocky Mountains, but first, you might want to stopover in Wells Gray Provencial Park, where you can stay in a horse ranch and go horseriding through the surrounding hills, past spectacular waterfalls.
