Cardamom Mountains Nature Reserve
On Day 1 you’ll take a minivan to the small village of Andong Teuk, where you’ll swap into a boat and sail across the river to tiny Chi Phat. Part of the Wildlife Alliance Ecotourism project, the villagers are famous for their hunting skills and woodworking. You’ll stay in a small rustic resort run by a community project to train locals in tourism. In the afternoon, you’ll set off through the thick undergrowth to nearby rapids. After the trek, you can cool off in the river before a tasty dinner, surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

Today you’ll wake early for a sunrise trip along the river, eat breakfast on board as dawn breaks over the treetops. It’s a wonderful way to start the day. You’ll spot wildlife on the riverbanks as you drift lazily along, watching the clouds reflect in the glassy water. You’ll stop for lunch in a forest clearing, dappled by sunlight taking in the calm surroundings. After lunch, you’ll head back to Chi Phat. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the village, meet the locals or simply relax. The next morning, you’ll grab your bags and set off again, completely refreshed after your forest breather.
