Riviere Du Loup, translated to Wolf River, became an important trade route for Canada, to protect the sailors and their ships, and for this reason, there were several lighthouses built on the islands. You’ll spend a night in a unique, fully restored lighthouse located on the island of Pot au l’eau de Vie, these islands also provide shelter for colonies of seabirds and seals, making a great place to observe. The lovingly decorated lighthouse exudes 19th-century charm in every room, and really is the cherry on top of the Canadian adventure.

Lighthouse Stay
Today you will make your way to the small city of Riviere-du-loup on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. You’ll park your car at the office harbour, take an overnight bag and board your ferry to reach your home for the night, a restored lighthouse! The ferry only takes half an hour, but keep your eyes peeled as with a little luck, you may see a beluga whale swimming past.
Once you arrive at the lighthouse, snacks and drinks will be waiting for you. You’ll then have the day to explore the island. There are plenty of hiking trails, some with views of the seals relaxing below. You’ll discover secluded coves and immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere that emanates from the island. On your return to your cosy accommodation, you’ll be served a typical regional dish before settling in for the night.
Explore & Departure
This morning we recommend getting up early to watch the sunrise over the island dabbled landscape. Take another stroll or relax at the lighthouse before you catch the ferry back to the mainland this afternoon where you’ll collect your car and continue your Canadian adventure.
"Nothing beats the freedom of the open road, and Canada offers just that! My absolute highlights were spotting bears up close and opening my curtain to the most amazing views each morning. Those moments will stay with me forever!"
