Lodges and hotels hand-picked for families

Thailand Khao Sok floating rafthouses

Finding good places to stay is an essential building block of any family holiday – you might even say it’s make or break. If you’re staying in places where the kids don’t feel happy and entertained then it can put a bit of a downer on your adventure.

That’s why we vary the hotels and lodges we pick for families, rather than always using the same places we would for couples or groups of adults. Our family team regularly seek out and visit accommodation across Thailand, finding those properties with the right atmospheres, locations and facilities for a great stay with children – think well-sized swimming pools, family room options, beach or jungle locations and experienced hosts that pay attention to the little things. You may even make some new friends with like-minded families while you’re there!

How it works

We work with a number of different hotels and lodges in each location, each personally visited and chosen for their comfort, character, location and facilities. This gives us flexibility, improves availability during busy seasons, and means we can offer upgrades or tailor things more specifically to your family.

Our accommodation is small-scale and locally owned, so no big chain hotels but lots of warmth and personality.

Your travel specialist will talk you through everything and, unless you have specific requests, we’ll book you in at our favourite available lodges and hotels.

Here’s what to expect from your Rickshaw Family accommodation.

Standard accommodation

Most of our Thailand family accommodation fits into our standard category. We value comfort and character over star ratings, but these properties would usually be 3* or sometimes 4*.

Example include a riverside hotel with pool in Bangkok, beautiful beachside resorts in Hua Hin or Ko Samui, or a comfortable lodge located within Khao Yai National Park.

In-style accommodation

If you like a little more luxury for your family holiday, even for just a night or two, then your travel specialist can arrange upgrades in a number of locations. These hotels will offer a lot of the same benefits as our standard choices but with an extra dash of style. Think boutique city hotels and beach hotels where you’ll feel like movie stars!

Special stays

Some of our Thailand family accommodation is so unique that it becomes difficult to categorise. In terms of comfort, these properties usually fit our standard category but the experience they offer warrants special mention – that’s why we call them “special stays”.

Examples include glamping under canvas in an elephant park in Khao Sok and staying in a floating rafthouse on the famous River Kwai.

Simple accommodation

In some places, we think that creating an unforgettable family experience makes it worth ‘roughing it’ for a night or two. We’ll always make sure you’re comfortable, but your accommodation may lack the facilities you’d find elsewhere in your trip.

These options are often a favourite memory for kids, and example include staying with a hill tribe near Chiang Mai or camping on the beach on an uninhabited island.

Tailoring your holiday

When planning your family holiday, your travel specialist will talk you through the places you’ll stay and will be happy to request alternatives and upgrades to suit your family’s needs.
