Although the rains lessen a little this month, Tanzania in May isn’t a great time to visit. The final month of the long rains, road conditions are often worse than April after the weeks of wet weather, and temperatures drop even further across the country although humidity is still high. The herds are continuing to migrate north, but it’s a tricky time to see Tanzania’s famous wildlife.

Low season does mean you’ll find fewer people exploring and lower prices, plus some dramatic skies over the lush green plains, but some camps may also close until the dry weather returns.
