Tanzania in July
One of the best months to visit, some of the most memorable scenes of the Great Migration take place in Tanzania in July, with the herds beginning the perilous Mara river crossing into Kenya’s Masai Mara as they continue their epic journey. With dry days and pleasant temperatures, plus the chance to see predators in action during the Migration, July is also peak season for a holiday in Tanzania; you’ll need to book well in advance for a chance to watch the action.
It’s also a great time for a quieter safari in the south of Tanzania, with drier weather here too, while elephants begin to congregate around the river at Tarangire National Park so you’ll see the herds here too. If you’re planning more than a safari, you’ll find fantastic conditions on the beach in Zanzibar in July, and great trekking at Kilimanjaro, although expect it to be very cold at night, especially at altitude. It’s also the best time to go to Tanzania if you’re cycling around the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, hiking in the foothills or discovering Moshi’s coffee plantations and villages; the weather is ideal.
