Day 2

Porto de Galinhas – Free Day

The literal translation of Porto Galinhas is ‘chicken harbour’, so expect to see quite a few images of chickens around town. During this self drive trip you’ll stay at a colourful pousada by the beach, only 5 minutes away from town by car. While in ‘chicken town’, you’ll have a large selection of quirky souvenir shops to browse.

Today you’ll have a free day to relax by the pool or on the beach. If you would like to spend the day out and about, you can go on a dune buggy ride through the area surrounding Porto Galinhas – one of the most fun excursions in this area. Another option is a snorkelling trip to the coral reefs. The reefs are located right off the coast in protective sea lagoons. One of the Brazilian jangada fishing boats can take you to the lagoons or on sightseeing tours along the coastline. Excursions can be booked locally.
