Best time to visit Canada

Climate and weather

The best time to visit Canada are during the shoulder months, in both spring and autumn where temperatures are often warm, you’ll see fewer tourists, and experience better availability and lower prices throughout. Your travel experience is also likely to be much more rewarding – if you opt for a spring getaway between April to May you’ll watch the country awaken from its winter slumber with wildflowers popping through and wildlife returning after the cold winter.

Alternatively, choosing a warm autumnal holiday in September through to October will offer postcard-perfect views – watch the lush green summertime colours change to vibrant hues of red, yellow and orange. For those looking for the best time to go whale and bear spotting we recommend travelling between June and October.

Despite Canada’s impressive size, the seasons are relatively similar across the country. The further south of Canada you are, the more the seasons are similar to Europe. The Canadian summertime runs from mid-June through to August where temperatures can soar up to 30-35 degrees centigrade – particularly in the west. Summer is peak travel time to Canada so it’s best to book early to avoid any disappointment with availability.

At Rickshaw Travel we cater for Canada holidays from spring through to autumn only.
