Day 1 – Arrival in Etosha National Park

The following days are all about wildlife spotting. You will be heading to the largest national park in Namibia, and one of Africa’s best game reserves for wildlife sightings. The park is home to rhino, elephant, lions, large herds of zebra and springbok, and the more elusive cheetah and leopard. Your accommodation for the first 2 nights, is located within the park. It’s known as a hub for wildlife enthusiasts and has a floodlit waterhole that attracts a diverse selection of animals. When you’re not on safari, relax with a refreshing dip in the swimming pool.

Etosha is very popular, and the camps in the park can get booked up very far in advance.  If there is no room in the park, we will reserve accommodation in a small-scale lodge just outside the park.

Days 2-3 – Safari in Etosha National Park

You have two full days to explore the national park. You can buy a detailed map from the park’s entrance, and go in search of wildlife from the comfort of your rental car. A self-drive safari means you can travel at your own pace and stop as long as you wish when you spot an animal. There’s only one main route across the park so you can’t get lost!

It’s worth setting your alarm early to catch the first light when most of the animals are at their most active. We recommend focusing your spotting around the waterholes. If you’re travelling during the dry season (May – October), large herds of game gather at the waterholes and if you’re lucky you will witness an incredible moment where all species come together.

At the end of day three, check out of your camp in the national park and head to one of the safari lodges just outside the park for your final night in Etosha. The lodge is smaller than the camp in the park, and family-run which makes for a more homely, intimate atmosphere.

Day 4 – Departure from Etosha

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the staff at the lodge and head on to your next destination in Namibia. If you’re travelling back to Windhoek, you could break the journey in Waterberg for a hike in beautiful lush scenery. Or continue with your wildlife spotting in the private reserve of Otjiwarongo.
