    Morocco Tangier

Day 1 – Welcome to Tangier

Tangier often marks the beginning of a journey through northern Morocco, and it sets the tone from the moment you arrive, whether by plane or travelling in from Rabat or Fes, as you step into a port city where Europe feels close and Africa is all around you; there is time to settle in at your own pace with a walk along the seafront, a first wander through the medina or a gentle drift into the kasbah where narrow lanes reveal small galleries, old walls and unhurried cafés, perhaps ending the day with simple fresh fish by the harbour, before staying in a small, characterful B&B in the heart of the medina where you can easily slip into the rhythm of daily life.

Day 2 – Guided food tour

After breakfast you set off on a relaxed culinary walk through Tangier with Rabab, a local guide who knows the city inside out and takes you to her favourite places, following the rhythm of the day rather than a fixed route so each walk feels a little different. You explore the old medina, nearby neighbourhoods and lively food markets, stopping along the way to taste a mix of sweet and savoury dishes such as bissara, a simple but flavourful broad bean soup, and kalinti, a soft chickpea pie with Spanish and Andalusian roots, along with treats like churros that reflect the city’s layered influences.

The walk ends with a generous traditional lunch, after which the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You might settle into a café by the sea, head out towards Cap Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, or continue wandering through the streets around your B&B, taking in the easy rhythm of the city.

Day 3 – Departure from Tangier

After breakfast you head on to your next stop, but not before pausing at Café Porto Rico, a well known spot for coffee in the city. If you stopped by earlier in your stay it is worth returning, if only for another cup of their distinctive herbal blend. Tangier is an easy place to weave into a wider route through Morocco. You could continue to the blue washed streets of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains, travel onwards to Fez to explore its historic medina and tanneries or follow the coastline to relaxed Asilah, while Rabat offers a gentle introduction to the Imperial Cities. Wherever the journey leads, Tangier leaves its mark and eases you naturally into what comes next.
