We've included a family-friendly food tour, where you'll sample local treats and enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch together.

Day 1 – Welcome to Tangier

Tangier is a great place to begin your family adventure in northern Morocco, with a laid-back feel that makes it easy to settle in. Whether you arrive by plane or travel from Rabat or Fes, the city’s lively port atmosphere quickly stands out – with Europe just across the water and Africa all around you. Ease into things with a relaxed stroll along the promenade, where local families gather in the evenings, children play and there’s always something to snack on from street stalls. Feeling more adventurous? Head into the medina and explore the kasbah together, getting pleasantly lost in its narrow lanes, old walls and hidden squares. Down by the harbour, you’ll find simple spots serving fresh fish that even younger travellers can enjoy. Just outside the city, you’ll stay in a welcoming family-run hotel with a pool which is a calm, comfortable base where everyone can unwind after a day of exploring.

Day 2 – Guided food tour

After breakfast, head out on a relaxed culinary walk through Tangier with Rabab, a local guide who knows the city inside out. There’s no fixed route, you’ll simply follow the buzz of the day, wandering through the medina, neighbourhood streets and lively markets. Along the way, you’ll stop for plenty of tastings, which makes it especially fun for children: lots of small bites, new flavours and something interesting to see at every turn.

Expect a mix of local favourites, from hearty bissara soup and street-side kalinti to sweet churros, olives, fresh fish and mint tea. There are also treats like honey-drizzled rghayef and stuffed dates, with options easily adapted for vegetarians or fussy eaters. The walk ends with a relaxed lunch, after which the afternoon is yours – unwind by the pool, find a seaside café, or head out to Cap Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean.

Day 3 – Departure from Tangier

After breakfast, it’s time to continue your journey but not before a stop at Café Porto Rico, a local favourite for what many say is the best coffee in town. If you’ve already been, you might find yourself happily returning. Try their herbal coffee for something a little different, and a fun sensory experience, especially for children.
