Your day-by-day itinerary
Twin Towers & Chopsticks
Kuala Lumpur is a city of exciting extremes, where space-age skyscrapers nudge up against cluttered Chinese markets and timeless Indian. You’ll explore Kuala Lumpur independently, watching East bump into West with your own eyes. You can stare up at the famous Petronas Towers, throw yourself into lively food-court culture and get a bird’s eye view from the top of the KL Tower.
Onward transfers
You’ll need to make your own way to the bus station today where you’ll board the bus to Kuala Tembeling, which takes roughly 3 to 4 hours. From here you’ll take a 2 hour boat ride over to Taman Negara.
Canopy Walk and Jungle Boat
Trek through the treetops, take a boat trip past jungle-flanked riverbanks and try a wildlife-spotting night safari during this relaxed adventure through Malaysia’s most famous national park. You’ll explore the world’s oldest tropical rainforest, and make sure you keep your eyes peeled for all the wildlife. By night, you’ll stay in a wooden bungalow in the jungle.
Onward transfers
After breakfast it’s time to bid farewell to the jungle and cross the river where you’ll find your driver waiting to take you to the next destination on your Malaysia holiday; Kota Bharu. It’s a journey of 6 to 7 hours and please note this transfer is shared with other passengers.
Creative Kampung Life
Experience local life in this creative kampung, tucked away on a small riverbank near Kota Bharu. You’ll meet the local villagers, try your hand at the traditional art of batik, find out how fiery fish crackers are made and explore the local area. You’ll take part in village activities by day and stay in a cosy wooden cottage next door to your hosts by night.
Onward transfers
Today you’ll take a private transfer from Kota Bharu to the small port of Kuala Besut, a little over an hour to the north. From here we’ve arranged a boat to take you the short way, roughly 30 minutes, to the Perhentian Islands.
Island Hopping Perhentian and Lang Tengah
This island hopping trip will give you two totally different takes on tropical paradise. It’s a laid-back, barefoot journey from postcard-perfect Perhentian Besar to peaceful Lang Tengah. Feel stranded on castaway beaches, snorkel through colourful coral gardens and eat fresh seafood set against fiery sunsets. It’s the height of stress-free living.
Onward transfers
This morning you’ll take another boat journey from Lang Tengah to Gem Island for the third and final instalment of your island-hopping odyssey. Travel time today is roughly 2.5 hours.
Daydreaming in Private Paradise
Everyone daydreams about their own private desert island and on tiny Gem Island, the dream can come true. A secluded slice of paradise with just one boutique resort, it’s like having tropical heaven all to yourself. Here, you can swing in a hanging chair outside your water villa, stare out to sea and feel like a true castaway. With stunning views and killer sunsets, it’s a seriously special place.
Onward transfers
Today marks the last day of your Malaysia trip. We’ll arrange your boat transfer back to the mainland and a private transfer to take you to the airport, roughly an hour’s journey. You’ll catch a flight back to Kuala Lumpur in time to connect onto your international flight home.
