Day 1 - Arrive in Denpasar & travel to Ubud

You’ll be met on arrival at Denpasar airport and transferred to Ubud - which is a drive of around one hour. Ubud is Bali’s cultural heart, surrounded by lush rice terraces, traditional villages and jungle, with plenty of opportunities to experience local life, art and Balinese traditions.
It’s a buzzy town and once you’ve settled in to your hotel head out to explore the small streets lined with warungs, art studios, bohemian bars and coffee shops.

Day 2 - Explore the countryside & local villages

After breakfast you’ll be picked up by your guide who will take you out of town and into the surrounding countryside. You’ll visit a traditional village to get a glimpse into local life, visit a rural temple and cross into an area covered with rice fields that tumble down the hillside. At the bottom of the valley, mystical royal tombs lie hidden amongst the cliffs.

Day 3 - Take a flight to Lombok & transfer to Sengiggi

This morning you’ll be transferred back to Denpasar airport to catch a short 30-minute flight to Mataram on the island of Lombok. On arrival a transfer will whisk you away to your beach resort in Senggigi, roughly an hour away. With a large swimming pool and a restaurant serving up tasty Indonesian dishes, it’s the perfect place to unwind. The rest of today is yours to do as you please. Take a walk along the beach, swim in the clear blue sea or just sit back and relax with a good book.

Day 4 - Fishing boat trip

Lombok is surrounded by crystal-clear waters, and today you’ll head out to explore them by local fishing boat. You’ll be collected from your hotel and taken to the harbour, where you’ll board a traditional boat and set off past tiny islands, colourful coral reefs and darting fish. There’s even a chance to try your hand at fishing before continuing to a picturesque island for lunch.

After lunch, it’s time to dive into the underwater world with your snorkelling gear. The calm, sheltered waters around the islands offer excellent conditions for spotting colourful coral and marine life. At the end of the trip, you’ll return to your hotel at around 5pm, with just enough time to watch the sun set with a tropical cocktail in hand.

Day 5 - Travel to Tetebatu

Today you’ll travel to Tetebatu, a peaceful corner of Lombok nestled in the foothills of Mount Rinjani. Surrounded by forests, tobacco plantations and lush, tiered rice terraces, the area is dotted with small Sasak villages and offers a glimpse of everyday life in rural Lombok. You’ll stay at a small-scale resort made up of charming huts, with a swimming pool overlooking the rice fields.

Day 6 - Hike through local villages

After breakfast, your friendly local guide will collect you from your hotel, and together you’ll set off to explore the nearby villages. Few travellers venture out this way, so you’ll be greeted with smiles and enthusiastic waves from local children. Passing vast rice fields, you’ll get a glimpse into everyday life in these rural communities, with your English-speaking guide sharing insights along the way. You’ll finish the walk with a visit to a well-known waterfall at the foot of Mount Rinjani and then soak up the peaceful surroundings as you sit down for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, you’ll return to your hotel and spend your evening relaxing by the pool or in your hut, and enjoying views over the rice fields in Tetebatu.

Days 7 & 8 - Travel to Senaru & trek to the crater rim of Mt Rinjani

Now for something a little more strenuous! Mount Rinjani is Indonesia’s second-highest volcano, standing at 3,726 metres and surrounded by rugged volcanic landscapes. Today, you’ll travel to Senaru, the starting point for your trek to the crater rim. You’ll spend the night in a simple hotel, so get some rest and prepare for an early start tomorrow.

The climb takes around 6–7 hours. The trail starts gently before becoming gradually steeper as you gain altitude, with increasingly impressive views along the way. By sunset, you’ll reach the crater rim, where a hot meal awaits. Settle in and watch the sun dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow across the mountains, before enjoying the cool mountain air as darkness falls.

Day 9 - Sunrise views, then descend to Senaru

Wake up to sunrise at the crater rim and watch the sky turn golden as the first rays of light break through the morning mist. On a clear day, you’ll have sweeping views across to Bali and Mount Agung, making a spectacular backdrop for a simple breakfast on the volcanic slopes.

After breakfast, it’s time to make your way back down to Senaru. The trail winds through grassy meadows and dense jungle before you finally reach the Rinjani Trek Centre. After a long day on the trail, you’ll be more than ready to relax.

    Days 10 & 11 - Take a boat to the Gili Islands for R&R

Time for some well-earned R&R! After your night in Senaru, you’ll travel by private car to Bangsal Pier, around a two-hour drive, before catching a boat to the sparkling white beaches of the Gili Islands. Just off the north coast of Lombok, these three tiny islands are the perfect place to slow down. Think powdery white sand, crystal-clear water and a laid-back island atmosphere.

The next few days are yours to enjoy at your own pace. Snorkel straight from the beach, take a boat trip to one of the neighbouring islands or simply find a shady spot and soak up the sunshine. And when you’ve had enough of the sea and sand, there’s a lovely swimming pool at your hotel where you can cool off, grab a book and while away a lazy afternoon.

Days 12 & 13 - Fast boat to Bali & transfer to Sanur. Relax!

It’s time to head back to Bali. Would you like to spend longer on the Gili Islands? Just ask your Travel Specialist to add another night or two to your Travel plan.

Take the fast boat to Padangbai (a journey of around 2 hours) where you’ll be met and transferred along the south coast to the beach resort of Sanur. Stretch out by the pool, take a leisurely walk along the beach and grab a cocktail at sunset. Simple. During your stay we’ll arrange a relaxing spa treatment for you.

Day 14 - Time to head home
