Day 2 – The Water Palace

Tirtigangga is a 20th-century water palace, surrounded by spectacular mountain peaks and green rice terraces. Today your family will get a real insight into the different cultures here. You will all learn to make your own sacrifices and can participate in a real temple ritual. On arriving at the palace, you’ll be welcomed with sarong clothing for the girls and a headdress for the boys. Once dressed and looking the part, you’ll get creative using palm leaves and other brightly coloured flowers, rice and fragrant herbs to make your baskets.

Your local guide will educate you and your family on the offerings, rituals and traditional practices here in the water palace. You’ll take a seat in the temple and if your family are up for it, say the prayer together with your guide, swinging the fragrant incense sticks in the air, followed by a sip of holy water. The tour here also includes a delicious lunch, after which you’ll be brought back to your hotel.
