Arrive in Revelstoke

Easily reached from Vancouver and within a few hours drive of all its national park neighbours, you’ll find your hotel nestled at the base of the spectacular Selkirk and Monashee Mountains, in the town of Revelstoke. It’s the perfect launch pad from which to roam and has all the amenities you will need for your stay. The park itself is a haven of hiking trails, glittering lakes, and scenic views. What more could you ask for?

If scaling a mountain is on your family’s bucket list, then it’s time to tick that off as the Meadows-in-the-Sky Parkway allows you to do just that, with ease! From the comfort of your car, you can wind your way uphill along 26km of well-paved road, through dense cedar forests and past wildflower meadows brimming with colour, to the 2,223 metre summit of Mount Revelstoke. The final stretch is a relatively easy 2km hike, or you can simply take a shuttle the rest of the way. From the top, the views are simply out of this world.

Ahoy there, ship mates!

Today, it’s time for something a little different. If you thought pirates were only found in the Caribbean then you’re sorely mistaken, as this morning you’ll come face-to-face with Canada’s own version of Jack Sparrow and his motley crew. Fun for all the family (especially the younger ones) you’ll spend a few hours being hugely entertained in a hilarious pirate-themed rafting trip on the Columbia River.

(If your family aren’t into the whole pirate experience or you’re travelling with older children, we have another rafting trip taking on the rapids. Just let us know!)

Once the face paint, bandanas and pirate names have been chosen, you’ll set sail with the Captain (licensed raft guide) and his First-Mates (local theatre students) and follow the ancient map in search of hidden treasure! The next few hours will be packed full of mayhem, mischief and mutiny – all with the majesty of the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop.

Back on shore, why not spend the afternoon on two wheels? There are plenty of trails to follow and the brilliant Beaver Lodge Kids Bike Park is designed for families with children of all ages.

Depart from Revelstoke

Sadly, the time has come to depart – although no doubt another epic national park, such as Banff or Jasper, is simply awaiting your arrival.

Before you do hit the road though, be sure to take the time to track down the Giant Cedars Boardwalk and walk among mammoth trees – some over 500 years old – at the world’s only inland cedar rainforest. It is peaceful, picturesque, and perfect for a picnic!
