Bai Tu Long Bay in our opinion is one of the most beautiful parts of South East Asia and definitely worth a visit on your travels. In fact, there are so many great photo opportunities that you’ll want to take an extra memory card with you.
If you’re travelling to Bai Tu Long Bay on your Vietnam trip then here are a few handy tips to consider when packing for your journey…
If you’re returning to Hanoi, we recommend leaving your main luggage at your hotel and taking a small overnight bag with you to Bai Tu Long Bay as your cabin onboard is fairly cosy.
It takes around 4 hours to travel by road to the pier for Bai Tu Long Bay, passing some really interesting scenery and stopping off for a refreshment break but we would recommend taking something to read and music to listen to (or even a pillow) to pass the time!
If you are travelling to Vietnam in the summer months (May to September) it is usually very warm, so you’ll just need a light sweater for the evenings. In the winter months (October to April) it can get pretty chilly in Bai Tu Long Bay, so remember to take lots of layers, such as a jumper and jacket for the evening. You can take your own drinks with you if you like, or order some Vietnamese wine on board.
All food is included in the price of this Bai Tu Long Bay trip. Weather permitting, you may be able to Kayak around the bay, or even jump off the boat for a swim so don’t forget your swimming gear!
I’d also recommend taking walking shoes and binoculars for the small excursions, as you wouldn’t want to miss out on the magical experiences or breathtaking views. Finally, don’t forget your passport! It’s needed to sail through the emerald waters of the bay.
