Day 1 – Arrival on Whale Island

After a short boat ride from Nha Trang, you’ll arrive at Whale Island, locally known as Hòn Ông. Enjoy the fresh sea breeze as you cross the bay in around 15 minutes, stepping ashore at a quiet stretch of beach, with clear turquoise water and tall palm trees gently swaying in front of you. Everything here is within a short walk, as there is just one hotel on the island, where you’ll sleep in a simple, family bungalow with a private bathroom. Staying here is all about soaking in the peaceful natural surroundings, and enjoying spending time outside together as a family. Settle in for the evening and enjoy a delicious dinner at the restaurant, where all your freshly prepared local dishes are included.

    Day 2 & 3 –  Relax on Whale Island

This morning, you’ll wake up to the gentle sound of waves lapping the shore, before enjoying a tasty breakfast to start the day. Head out on a catamaran to explore the surrounding islands, or take a dip in the water to discover what’s beneath the surface. While the snorkelling is not world class, there is still so much to see just from the shore, where shoals of tropical fish dart in every direction, from bright parrotfish to striped sergeant majors. Prefer to stay above the water? You can rent kayaks or paddleboards from the resort and explore the bay at your own pace.

Day 4 – Departure from Whale Island

Today, you’ll say goodbye to your island escape. After breakfast, head down to the beach where a small boat is waiting to take you back to the mainland. For many families, this feels like the perfect way to round off a Vietnam trip. If you’re not quite ready to head home, there’s plenty more to explore. Travel to Saigon, where the pace picks up again and hop on the back of a vespa and weave through the city’s buzzing streets. After the energy of Saigon, slow things down in the Mekong Delta, where life moves at a gentle rhythm as you drift along narrow waterways, passing floating homes and markets to get a glimpse into everyday life on the river.
