Day 1 – Arrival in Maji Moto

In Nairobi, you will be collected by our driver and taken to the Masai Mara, one of Kenya’s most iconic nature reserves. Our local partner actually spent several months living among the Maasai, so we’ve built a close connection with the community and can introduce you in a way that gives you a real insight into their life. You will stay in a Maasai camp, with toilets, showers, and covered dome tents with mattresses. Its simple, but comfortable, and a great way to immerse yourself in traditional Maasai village life. After lunch, you’ll head out on a hike with the tribe, where you’ll learn more about their culture and traditions as you explore the lush valleys and rolling hills.

Day 2 – On the road with the Maasai

After a freshly prepared breakfast, you will spend the morning walking through the savannah with some of the villagers, who will happily show you their traditional houses (manyattas) made of branches and thatch. If you’d like to keep exploring, you can go on a bike ride or visit a local school, before heading back to your accommodation for lunch. This afternoon, the Maasai will show you how they hunt and teach you how to throw a spear. Later, you’ll enjoy a tasty, home-cooked Maasai dinner around the campfire, with the option of going on a night game drive to spot some of the area’s nocturnal wildlife and animals that are more active after dark.

Day 3 – Game drive in the Masai Mara

After breakfast, you will continue onto Masai Mara National Park. This is one of Africa’s most iconic nature reserves and borders with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Along with an expert guide, you’ll search for a wide variety of animals including the big five (lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos), zebras, cheetahs and by the riverbanks you might catch a glimpse of a crocodile or a hippo in the shallows. You’ll head to your next camp within the reserve, just as the sun goes down, in time for a delicious dinner and a chance to relax and share stories from the day by the campfire.

Day 4 – Final game drive and departure from Maji Moto

Today you will be hopping into a jeep and driving through the Masai Mara one last time. As the sun paints the savannah in a warm orange glow, keep your eyes peeled for giraffes, elephants, lions, and cheetahs as they stir in the early morning light. Once you return from the safari, you’ll be transferred back to Nairobi to continue your journey in Kenya. Head to the highest lake in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha, and spot hippos in the shallow waters, or journey across the equator to spot the Samburu Special Five, five unique species that are only found within this reserve.
