Day 1 – Arrival in Lake Naivasha

Today you will be driven to the highest lake in the Great Rift Valley – Lake Naivasha. The lake is surrounded by grassy plains and pebble beaches dotted with cacti and sand olive trees, and is home to a huge variety of birdlife (over 400 different species!), as well as hippos, crocodiles and more. You will spend the next two nights in a typical ‘banda’, a small cottage perched on the lake’s edge. It’s a simple and no-frills experience, but a great way to immerse yourself in the wild natural surroundings. This evening, as the sun begins to set, you will journey to the highest point of the crater on a guided walk around the lake, soaking up the beautiful views with a refreshing drink in hand.

Day 2 – Exploring Hell’s Gate

Today you will head to the famous Hell’s Gate, a peaceful park despite it’s name, known for its towering red cliffs and dramatic gorges. Alongside an expert guide, you will hop on a bike and pedal through the park, looking out for grazing zebras, giraffes and buffalo. Next, you’ll enjoy a tasty picnic lunch on the open plains, surrounded by swaying grass and the sounds of the wild all around you.

After your morning bike ride, you’ll continue onto Lake Naivasha where you’ll board a boat for a trip across the lake. Watch as fish eagles swoop down and skim the surface of the water to find their next catch, hippos wallow in the shallows and kingfishers flit between the reeds. Tonight, you’ll return to the same lodge for a well-deserved rest after today’s activities.

Day 3 – Departure from Lake Naivasha

Today, you’ll say goodbye to the lake and head onto your next destination in Kenya. Travel to Kenya’s most iconic park, the Masai Mara, where you can witness The Great Migration, and see herds of wildebeest and zebra making their dramatic river crossing. Visit a local Maasai village and get an insight into daily life here by staying in a tented camp and learning all about their culture and traditions, including learning how to throw a spear.
