Day 1 - Seoul to Sokcho

From Seoul, it is an easy bus ride to Sokcho and we arrange your ticket with a reserved seat. This coastal city in the northeast of South Korea has a lovely mix of modern life and old traditions. Wander through local markets, discover small restaurants and see how high rise buildings sit alongside traditional streets. As you get closer to Sokcho, the scenery changes with golden beaches, a lighthouse and the blue waters of the East Sea. Once you have checked in, you can explore at your own pace. Take a stroll through the market, sample some fresh seafood or settle into a local restaurant and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this seaside city.

Day 2 - Seoraksan National Park

Seoraksan National Park is only around 20 minutes from Sokcho and easy to reach by local bus. Once you arrive, walk through the impressive entrance gate and choose a route that suits you. The cable car is close to the entrance and takes you up to views over the surrounding mountains and valleys. From the top, it is a short walk to Gwongeumseong Fortress, where you can enjoy beautiful views across the park. There are walking routes for all levels, from gentle strolls to more challenging hikes such as the climb to Ulsanbawi Rock. Along the way, you can stop at Sinheungsa Temple, a colourful Buddhist temple surrounded by the dramatic mountain scenery.

Day 3 - Departure from Sokcho

Time to continue your journey south and discover more of South Korea’s rich traditions. If you are travelling by public transport, the easiest route is via Seoul, while a rental car gives you more flexibility to explore at your own pace. Visit Jeonju for one of the country’s most beautiful hanok villages, wander through Gyeongju’s open air museum of historic sites or step back in time in Andong’s Hahoe Village, a traditional village that has been preserved for around 500 years.
