Day 1 – Arrival in Labuan Bajo
You’ll usually be arriving from Bali, which is just a two hour flight away. Labuan Bajo is a change of pace, with a slower, more laid-back feel from the moment you arrive. Your hotel sits right by the sea and has a swimming pool, ideal for cooling off and unwinding after your journey. Once you’ve checked in, stroll down to the sea and take a refreshing dip, or find a quiet corner by the pool with a book and let the afternoon drift by. The town itself is a small working harbour, with a relaxed atmosphere, but not overly polished. It’s all part of the charm, where the focus is on the sea and the adventures to come.
Day 2 – Komodo boat tour
Today, you’ll board a wooden motorboat to Komodo National Park. After meeting your captain at the harbour, you’ll set off for a day on the water, with island stops, wildlife encounters and time to swim and snorkel along the way. Your first stop is Rinca Island, a quieter alternative to Komodo, where you’ll head out with a ranger in search of the famous Komodo dragons. Walking along dusty paths through the island, you’ll soon spot the powerful prehistoric animals roaming freely. For children, its like stepping into a real-life nature documentary, with your guide expertly reading the dragons’ behaviour, keeping everyone at a safe distance while bringing the experience to life.
Back on board, you’ll continue towards Komodo Island, stopping along the way for a swim and snorkel from the boat. The waters here are some of the best in Indonesia for exploring with vibrant coral reefs and colourful tropical fish below the surface. After a full day out on the water, you’ll return to Labuan Bajo in the late afternoon.

Day 3 – Free time
After breakfast, the day is yours to take at your own pace. Spend time together by the beach, or settle in by the pool while the kids splash and play in the water. If you’re in the mood for something more active, you could rent a kayak and explore the coastline as a family. In the evening, you might like to round off the day and soak in some local culture with a traditional dance performance.
Day 4 – Departure from Labuan Bajo
After another night at your beach resort in Labuan Bajo, its time to leave Flores. Many travellers choose to return to Bali for a relaxed end to the trip, where you can unwind on sandy beaches and enjoy a few more relaxed days. If you’re not quite ready to slow down, you could continue your journey to Java. Here, you could explore highlights like the Borobudur temple complex by bike, for a more active cultural end to your trip. We can arrange your domestic flights for you.
