Day 1 - Arrive in Denpasar & travel to Ubud

You’ll be met on arrival at Denpasar airport and transferred to Ubud - which is a drive of around one hour. Ubud is Bali’s cultural heart, surrounded by lush rice terraces, traditional villages and jungle, with plenty of opportunities to experience local life, art and Balinese traditions.
It’s a buzzy town and once you’ve settled in to your hotel head out to explore the small streets lined with warungs, art studios, bohemian bars and coffee shops.

Day 2 - Bike tour through the paddies & villages

Today you’ll head out on a cycling tour with a local guide, passing rice fields and artisan villages. You have the option to stop in Pejeng and join the car to the home base, or continue on till the base camp. The home base is the cycling owner’s own family house where a Balinese lunch is prepared in their garden.

You’ll be staying in a traditional Balinese-style hotel just outside of the centre, as this way you can really enjoy the surrounding views of the tumbling rice paddies.

Day 3 - Free time to explore Ubud

Today is yours to explore at your own pace. You could visit a traditional village to get a glimpse into local life, visit a rural temple and cross into an area covered with rice fields that tumble down the hillside. At the bottom of the valley, spot the mystical royal tombs lie hidden amongst the cliffs.

Day 4 - Transfer to Munduk

Today, you’ll leave Ubud behind and head inland. You’ll be collected by a private car and transferred to Munduk, roughly 3 hours away. Discover a breezy highland world of misty mountains, forest waterfalls and serene temple lakes in Munduk, a hilltop retreat with heaps of local character. Trek through the valleys and orchards, soak up the gorgeous views and suck in the cool mountain air. Follow scenic trails through vanilla, coffee and clove plantations to glimmering lakes and visit island temples in the hills.

The rest of your time here is entirely your own.

Day 8 - Monkeys & Birds in Bali Barat National Park

The rest of your time here is entirely your own. The Bali Barat National Park in the north-western tip of Bali is a great destination for trekking through the jungle forest to spot monkeys and tropical birds in their natural habitat.

Day 10 - The Water Palace

Tirtigangga is a 20th-century water palace, surrounded by spectacular mountain peaks and green rice terraces. Today your family will get a real insight into the different cultures here. You will all learn to make your own sacrifices and can participate in a real temple ritual. On arriving at the palace, you’ll be welcomed with sarong clothing for the girls and a headdress for the boys. Once dressed and looking the part, you’ll get creative using palm leaves and other brightly coloured flowers, rice and fragrant herbs to make your baskets.

Your local guide will educate you and your family on the offerings, rituals and traditional practices here in the water palace. You’ll take a seat in the temple and if your family are up for it, say the prayer together with your guide, swinging the fragrant incense sticks in the air, followed by a sip of holy water.
