Here you’ll find young orangutans who have been orphaned by deforestation and poachers and are now preparing for independent adult life in the wild. You’ll visit the massive living space for these orangutans, and as feeding time hits you’ll see the iconic great apes emerge from the jungle to fill their belly with fresh fruit and nuts.

Kinabatangan River Cruise

After your time with the orangutans, you’ll head to the port of Sandakan where you’ll leave the mainland for a boat trip down the longest river of Sabah, Kinabatangan. Once you’ve all put on your lifejackets, you’ll hop aboard the boat on the waterfront – look up and you’ll see colourful birds peering endlessly in the water in search for food. After a stop for lunch in a small village, you’ll carry on the journey to your atmospheric lodge in the middle of the jungle. Once you’ve checked in, later this afternoon you’ll watch the animals come to life as the sun goes down on a wildlife cruise. In the evening you’ll head back to your lodge for dinner and fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle.
