Overview
Get the full Borneo experience by venturing to both the Sarawak and Sabah region of the island with your family. Start off your adventure by cycling through the streets of Kuching, before you go searching for wildlife in Bako National Park. The following day you’ll cruise down the mighty Santubong river, another haven for wildlife! Next up is Semenggoh where you’ll find our close relatives, the orangutan. It’s then over to Sabah to the Kinabalu National Park, as well as the Kinabatangan river to seek out more time with Borneo’s orangutans and take in the magnificent jungle views. Finally, to end your trip it’s time to for some well deserved relaxation on the beach.

Your day-by-day itinerary
Cruising through Kuching
On arrival into Kuching, you’ll be collected at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Borneo might not be known for its cities, but Kuching is truly a gem and the perfect place to begin or end your family adventure. Named, the ‘Cat City’ and with references all over to its feline friends, as well as its delicious food, relaxed vibe and a melting pot of cultures, it’s undoubtedly the most family-friendly urban area in Borneo and a place that all the clan are sure to fall in love with.
Onward transfers
On the 3rd day you’ll be collected from your hotel in Kuching for the 40-minute transfer to the small village of Kampung Bako. You’ll then hop onto a boat and head to Bako National Park.
Day trip to Bako National Park
Today you’ll head on a day trip to Bako National Park. Teaming with wildlife, including numerous species of monkey, yet within easy reach of Kuching, this trip is a great jungle experience for all the family. Your experienced guide will lead you through the winding boardwalks and rainforest trails, helping the kids to spot the mischievous Macaques, Silver Leaf Monkeys and of course the most famous resident, the funny-faced Proboscis Monkey.
Onward transfers
At the end of the day, you’ll head back to Kuching where you’ll spend another night before being transferred to the Damai Peninsula – about 1 hour away.
Great Apes & Waterways
The next 3 days are action-packed as you’ll be visiting Semenggoh Rehabilitation Centre and seeing Borneo’s most famous residents, the orangutan. You’ll also be cruising down the Santubong River trying to spot all the wildlife that call this area home (monkeys, crocs and fireflies). To top it all off, you’ll be staying in a real-life treehouse, set in an eco-resort. Here you can rent out kayaks or paddleboards if you haven’t yet had your fill of adventure!
Onward transfers
At the end of your stay on the Damai Peninsula, you’ll be transferred back to Kuching where you’ll board a flight to Kota Kinabalu. The flight time is around 1.5 hours.
Canopies & Hot Springs
This bustling coastal city at the foot of the immense Mount Kinabalu is the starting point for your family holiday through Sabah. You’ll be staying in a centrally located hotel, walking distance to the waterfront. The next day you’ll head to Kinabalu National Park with a guide to discover the wildlife and plants which call this place home, getting a different perspective as you explore from the canopy walks high above the forest floor.
Onward transfers
Next, you’ll be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Sandakan, a short 45-minute flight.
Rivers, Jungles & Orangutans
Take the kids into Borneo’s wilderness. You’ll visit the world famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center where you’ll come face to face with these great apes – a moment your family will never forget. Together with a local guide you’ll leave the mainland and sail deeper into the jungle on Borneo’s longest river, Kinabatangan. Nowhere in Borneo can you see as many wild animals together than here. From monkeys to crocodiles, tropical birds to elephants and sun bears to lizards; keep your camera handy at every moment! You’ll sleep in a jungle lodge located deep in the forest between the lush nature of Borneo.
Onward transfers
Next you’ll be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport to travel back to Kota Kinabalu, a 45-minute flight away.
Borneo Beach Break
The next few days are all about quality family time at the beach. You’ll stay in an In Style resort on the outskirts of Kota Kinabalu where the beach goes on for miles, the calm sea offers a refreshing dip and the whole family is catered for with plenty of restaurants and activities. You’ll be transferred from the airport or city hotel to the beach where you’ll spend 3 nights kicking back, doing as much or as little as you like. At the end of your stay, we’ll transfer you back to the airport for your onward flight.

At the end of your holiday, you’ll be transferred from the beach to the airport, which takes about 45 minutes, to begin your journey home.
