Take a break from sightseeing on the soft white sands of Cayo Santa Maria. There's plenty to do in this archipelago of sleepy islands reachable by bridge from the mainland. Grab a snorkel, take a barefoot walk along the beach or indulge in a tropical cocktail. Of course, you could just do nothing at all; lie back, stretch out and let the sunshine do the rest.
Day 1 - Arrival on Cayo Santa Maria
After the scenic drive from the mainland across to the island, you’ll arrive at Cayo Santa Maria and settle into your comfortable all-inclusive resort. These are the only type of accommodation in Cayo Santa Maria, but we’ve managed to find one that’s a little bit smaller and more charming than the others with a beautiful location.
Days 2-3 - Free time & departure
Your time here is free to do as you please. Why not pop over to Cayo Las Brujas, an island full of romantic folklore? Local legend has it that a pair of star-crossed lovers fled here and in tropical seclusion, lived happily ever after. It’s easy to see why. Alternatively, if you’ve got a hire car at your disposal, take a drive to the surrounding islands and discover some secret beaches en route.
