Pyin Oo Lwin is located in the Shan Highlands, a picturesque town surrounded by rolling hills. Once home to the British, it still hosts many colonial buildings, quaint churches and some seriously impressive mansions! This small town is slowly developing and definitely worth a visit for its impressive architecture and cool climate. You'll stay in a charming chalet style hotel close to the Kandawgyi Botanical Gardens and explore by bicycle. After a day sightseeing, you can indulge in a Burmese high tea.

Day 1 – Train to Pyin Oo Lwin

Today you will take the train from Kyaukme to Pyin Oo Lwin. Arriving into the cool climate in the late afternoon, a driver will transfer you to your hotel by tuk-tuk. Your accommodation is a chalet-style hotel close to the stunning botanical gardens. As you’ll most likely arrive late in the afternoon there’s nothing planned for the rest of the day so you can pick a nice spot for dinner and relax, taking in the hilltop town.

Days 2-3 – Bike ride, high-tea & departure

After breakfast it’s time to explore your new surroundings. Bikes and a handy map will be dropped off at your hotel for your use today. We recommend heading to the botanical gardens first; it’s a beautiful spot to relax in the sunshine. The colourful markets are a great place to mingle with the locals; try your hand at some haggling and hopefully pick up some bargains!

After all that sightseeing you’ll have worked up a bit of an appetite so this afternoon you will tuck into a delicious Burmese high tea at the Club Terrace Hotel. This is the perfect place to unwind and relax in the flower-filled gardens before hopping back on your bike and continuing your sightseeing. The following day it’s time to say goodbye to Pyin Oo Lwin as you continue your journey through Myanmar.
