Why Meaningful Travel matters to me
I care about the local communities in the destinations we visit and want to promote local enriching experiences which not only benefit the visitor but also the community as a whole. I want to ensure that when I travel to a destination I don’t have a negative impact on the communities and environments that I visit. I also feel strongly about encouraging others to do the same and think about the impact their travel adventures may have.
My most Meaningful Travel moment
I consider myself very lucky to have had so many meaningful travel moments over the years. Most recently was with Rickshaw staying in a stilted homestay on the Tonle Sap lake celebrating the new year with locals and the cookery course at the homestay in Sri Lanka. I was honoured to source and then visit our local project in Tibet last year. When I worked as a tour leader in Costa Rica I loved taking passengers to visit the Sloth Sanctuary, another local project we also support here at Rickshaw.
My day job at Rickshaw
As well as being part of the Meaningful Travel team, I’m also a full time Sales Team Leader.
Travel Specialist Ceri went to our local project in Tibet to meet the wonderful students and staff at Braille Without Borders & shares her experience here.

Being hosted by locals in Cuba's Casas Particulares was one of the (many) highlights of my Cuba trip. It's just like staying in a super friendly B&B!
