San Jorge - Ometepe Island - San Jorge
Overview
Ometepe Island offers a real break from the busy cities. The local people are very friendly and call their island 'a haven of peace and tranquillity'. From your lodge you can walk to the beach to sunbathe or swim in the lake. If you feel like being a little more active, you can rent bikes, explore the island waterfalls or even climb one of the two volcanoes.

Your day-by-day itinerary
Arrival on Ometepe Island
This morning you’ll take a taxi to the harbour where you’ll board the ferry to Ometepe Island. There can be quite high waves on the lake so be prepared. Upon arrival you’ll be picked up and transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is free, so spend some time enjoying the view from your villa. We think the best restaurant on the island is at the lodge so you can eat here this evening.
Free time & Departure
Start the day with a leisurely breakfast outside in the sun then do what you like! Maybe rent a bicycle and explore Ometepe Island on two wheels. Make sure you stop at the ‘Ojo de Agua’; a natural water source right in the middle of the countryside where you can bathe with the locals. Alternatively, head down to the beach and spend the day relaxing in a hammock in the sunshine. On your last day, you’ll take a taxi to the port and head back to the mainland by ferry.
San Ramon Waterfall Hike
Take a guided hike to the impressive San Ramon Waterfall. You’ll start at the forested foot of the southern slope of the Maderas volcano and hike for about 2 hours to reach the waterfall, where you can cool off a little from the effort in a small bathing area and feel the force of the water falling down on you.
