Overview
Charleston is a historic city with a colonial feel, as it used to be owned by French merchants and is sometimes called the French Riviera of the south. With its cobbled streets and pastel houses and even horse-drawn carriages you may feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It played a major role in the American Civil War and this is where the first shot was fired. There is lots more history to learn about here with the The Old Slave Mart Museum.
