Classical Dance in Cochin
Bite-sized trip
- Itinerary:Cochin
- Duration:3 days / 2 nights (flexible)
- Price:from £ 244.- per person (excluding flights)
Day 1 – Arrival in Cochin
Cochin (or Kochi) is a quaint, colourful coastal town with Portuguese and Dutch influences. It’s still an important seaport for trade in gold, textiles, fish and spices. The spice market here is one of the best in Kerala. Down by the water, you can see the legendary Chinese fishing nets in action. You’ll stay in the colonial home of a local family in the historic Fort Cochin district (we can arrange a hotel instead if you’d prefer).
Day 2 – Free time & dance class
Today, your driver will take you around the sights of Cochin. You can visit the Dutch Palace, the Jewish Synagogue in the heart of the Jewish district, and the Saint Francis Church (the oldest European church in India). Head down to the water and look at the Chinese fishing nets that arrived in Cochin with the Chinese traders many centuries ago. In the afternoon, we’ve arranged a Kathakali dance class for you.
Day 3 – Departure from Cochin
After breakfast, your driver will be waiting to whisk you around any of the sights of Cochin that you missed yesterday. If you didn’t get a chance yesterday, then visit the impressive Santa Cruz Basilica. In the afternoon, you’ll leave Cochin and set off for your next destination.
