As meaningful travel is at the heart of what we do, we think it’s great to get to grips with the local way of life and support environmentally friendly ventures in the destination. If you’re looking for something particularly meaningful, our Amazon trip should fit the bill. All guides are employed locally and you’ll stay in a sustainable jungle lodge on the bank of the river. All materials have been sourced locally, using wood, clay and reed from the surrounding area.
We believe that where you stay can have a real impact on your trip, so we try to use locally owned, small-scale hotels and guest houses wherever we can so you get a real experience of Peru during your travels. If you’re looking for something truly immersive take a look at our home stay during our Titicaca Island Hopping trip, where you’ll stay with a local family, learning about their culture and traditions and supporting the community.
Our Local Peru Project
We select local projects for each destination, and give all of our customers the option to make a small donation to these projects when they book their trip. In Peru, we support Project Peru who offer clothes, shelter, education and fun to those who live in their children’s refuge in the desert shanty towns of Lima. You can find out more about the work they do here.
