Thompson River in Canada

Day 1

Arrival at Thompson River

Today you’ll journey to Thompson River, the largest tributary of the Fraser River and home to quite a lot of salmon which are often spotted swimming upstream. Your home for the night is a cosy Tipi, making for a truly unforgettable experience on your family adventure – and let’s face it, how many people can say they’ve done that?! The tipis have an authentic and cosy style to them where you’re likely to catch a glimpse of the stars above as night falls.

Tipis by Thompson River

The resort is the perfect compliment to the natural surroundings with a pool, hot tub, your own picnic table and bbq spot where you can unwind. Thompson River is a popular place for Candian’s to go rafting, and if you’d like to join in on the fun you can organise a rafting trip locally. This part of the river isn’t very wild, you’ll be able to enjoy the view and paddle occasionally – but be prepared to get quite wet in the rapids!

Day 2

Departure from Thompson River

It’s traditional that tipis always open with the door facing East, so when you step outside in the morning, you’ll be met by the sun. After a dip in the pool, you’ll continue your way through the Canadian landscape. On your way to the Rockies, you can make a stop in the adventurous town of Sun Peaks or take a pit-stop Mount Revelstoke National Park.

Speak to our Canada specialist, Joe

"Nothing beats the freedom of the open road, and Canada offers just that! My absolute highlights were spotting bears up close and opening my curtain to the most amazing views each morning. Those moments will stay with me forever!"
