Arrival at Thompson River
Today you’ll journey to Thompson River, the largest tributary of the Fraser River and home to quite a lot of salmon which is often spotted swimming upstream. Your home for the night is a cosy Tipi, making for a truly unforgettable experience – and let’s face it, how many people can say they’ve done that?! The tipis have an authentic and cosy style to them where you’re likely to catch a glimpse of the stars above as night falls.
The resort is the perfect compliment to the natural surroundings with a pool, hot tub, your own picnic table and bbq spot where you can unwind. Thompson River is a popular place for Canadians to go rafting, and if you’d like to join in you can organise a rafting trip during your stay. This part of the river isn’t very wild, you’ll be able to enjoy the view and paddle occasionally – but be prepared to get quite wet in the rapids!
Departure from Thompson River
It’s traditional that tipis always open with the door facing East, so when you step outside in the morning, you’ll be met by the sun. After a dip in the pool, you’ll continue your way through the Canadian landscape. On your way to the Rockies, you can make a stop in the pristine Wells Gray Park or drive south to the Okanagan Valley where various Canadian wines are produced.
