Day 1 – Arrival in Puerto Escondido

If you’re coming from Oaxaca, you will arrive in the laid-back coastal town of Puerto Escondido after a bus journey of around 3 hours. You’ll be staying in a charming hotel, decorated in the style of a traditional Mexican Hacienda, just a 5-minute stroll to the nearest beach – Playa Principal. Relax by the outdoor pool and enjoy the scenic views over the bay, before taking a stroll down the vibrant cobbled streets of El Adoquín, where you will find food vendors serving street tacos, musicians performing and local shops selling handmade crafts. As no cars are allowed here, it’s the perfect place for an evening walk where you can soak up the lively atmosphere and try some of the tasty local street food being served.

Day 2 – Free time in Puerto Escondido

If you haven’t already taken a walk down to the local beach, it may be time to take the plunge and have a dip in the calm waters of Playa Principal, where you can also enjoy a bite to eat with a view and take in the fresh sea breeze. This area is well known for surfing, with beach breaks for experienced and beginner wave-catchers alike. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can arrange a surf lesson or sit back and watch the pros at Playa Zicatela. If you’d rather stay dry, there is still plenty to do here with beautiful coastal walks showcasing the natural beauty of the Pacific coastline, whale and dolphin watching tours (Nov-Mar) and of course, just unwinding with a good book on the soft sands.

Day 3 – Departure from Puerto Escondido

Today you’ll be leaving your hacienda behind and heading off to your next destination in Mexico, but if you’d like to extend your stay in Puerto Escondido we can arrange this for you. For more beach time, you could travel east along the coast to Puerto Angel or hop on a bus back to Oaxaca for any international flights.
