Your day-by-day itinerary
Bright Lights of Bangkok
You’ll arrive in the bustling capital of Bangkok and stay on the riverside of Chao-Phraya, with a rooftop pool, and just a short walk to the famous Khao San Road. The following morning we’ll arrange a thrilling full day excursion that will give you a taste of life in Bangkok. You’ll discover local communities, learn about the history and finish the afternoon with a refreshing drink at a roof-top bar.
The River and the Railway
After an early breakfast you’ll start your trip to the River Kwai as part of a small group. First you will visit a market before heading to the Hellfire Pass Museum where you can learn all about the haunting history of this region. In the afternoon a longtail boat will take you upstream to your accommodation for the night, a floating raft house lit by flickering oil lamps.
After a peaceful night’s sleep in your floating hut you’ll you’ll visit the Erawan Waterfalls, a spectacular collection of waterfalls. As you climb why not take a plunge in one of the clear pools to cool off. Next it’s time to board the train for a trip across the Burma ‘Death’ Railway. During the ride you’ll see panoramic views of the River Kwai and visit the Bridge over the River Kwai. You’ll spend the second night of this trip in a small, cosy riverside resort in Kanchanaburi.
Onward transfers
Today you will take the bus from Kanchanaburi back to the capital, Bangkok. It’s a great way to see the Thai landscape and only takes 2 and a half hours. On arrival you will make your own way to the airport where you’ll check in for your flight to Phuket. The flight takes roughly 90 minutes. When you pass through arrivals a local representative will be waiting to transfer you to your colonial-style hotel for the night in the old town. The following day you will head to Koh Yao Yai by ferry.
Secret Islands and Snorkelling Lagoons
This is paradise in a nutshell. Of all of the islands in Thailand, Ko Yao Yai is one of the least developed – a perfect spot for travellers seeking a desert island experience. Ko Yao Yai lies in an inland sea south of Thailand, surrounded by uninhabited rocky islands that thrust up from the water, full of secluded coves and tiny, hidden bays. Ko Yao Yai itself has a few residents, but hardly any tourists at all. You’ll spend two nights on Ko Yao Yai island, staying in a beach bungalow on a white powdery palm-lined beach. The day after you arrive, you’ll take a daytrip to hidden lagoons, abandoned beaches and superb snorkelling spots.
Onward transfers
After time chilling out on Koh Yao Yai you will head to the second island on your trip, Ko Lanta. You will take a ferry via Ao Nang on the mainland to get there.
Discover the Flavours of Ko Lanta
As well as vast stretches of white sand and swaying coconut palms, Thailand is also famous for it’s cuisine. From spicy coconut curries and stir-fried noodles to fresh papaya salad and crispy spring rolls, it’s easy to find something truly mouth-watering. During this trip to the tropical island of Ko Lanta you’ll take a cooking class and learn how to make some of these tasty dishes for yourself. You’ll stay in a comfortable wooden bungalow, just a short walk from the island’s natural rainforest and rugged coastline. You’ll have plenty of time to relax on the peach-sand beach and savour the easy going atmosphere.
Onward transfers
Next you will take the ferry to Ko Hai, a tiny picturesque island in the Trang archipelago just an hour away.
Relaxing on Robinson Crusoe Island
Just off the coast in Southern Thailand, far away from the tourist masses, lies the hidden Trang Archipelago and Ko Hai Island. The archipelago is made up of more than 47 tiny islands, each one a little slice of island paradise. Ko Hai Island, (also called Ko Ngai) is also famed as the most idyllic island of South Thailand. Daydream on the bleached white sands under swaying palm trees and dive into the clear turquoise waters. You’ll stay in a charming beach hut with your very own private veranda. Watch the sunset with a cold beer or fruit cocktail, it’s the perfect place for a bit of tropical R&R. All you’ll need is a good book, a snorkel and you’re all set.
Onward transfers
All good things must come to an end, and today your tropical Thailand holiday must draw to a close. You’ll rise early to catch the ferry over to the mainland, a journey of about 90 minutes. Here we’ll arrange for a private transfer to take you the 2 hours to Krabi airport. In Krabi you’ll catch a roughly 90 minute flight back up to Bangkok, where you will connect onto your international flight home.
