Day 1

Arrival at Bryce Canyon

Just a few hours drive from Zion National Park lies Bryce Canyon – a national park that keeps the Grand Canyon company at the top of many lists of the most spectacular parks in the whole of America. Renowned for its staggering collection of jagged rocky “hoodoos”, the fascinating landscape will follow you all the way to your base for the next few nights – a cosy hotel with a pool.

It’s not often advisable to keep the kids up past bed time but tonight may be an exception, with the night skies so dark that a staggering 7,500 stars are visible! Between Spring & Autumn, you may also be able to attend one of the renowned evening Astronomy Programs held at the Visitor Center. High-tech telescopes allow you to peer at planets and galaxies, whilst hearing talks from local astronomers. You may even be lucky enough to take your family out on a free, ranger-guided full moon hike!

Day 2

Explore Bryce Canyon

After a hearty breakfast, it’s time to head to the park and whilst you can drive, parking is limited so we recommend using the free shuttle service. It’s best to start at the Visitor Center, and there are some brilliant ranger-led kid’s programs available that last around an hour and include crafts and educational talks – all for free! It’s a great place to get an overview before venturing further into the park.

There are plenty of family-friendly hikes to be had in the park, with one of the easiest taking you along the Rim Trail between two of the best viewpoints – Sunset Point and Sunrise Point. The trail is paved, fairly level, and around a mile round-trip and the views you’ll be treated to will be nothing short of spectacular. They overlook Bryce Amphitheater and its endless array of pink hue spires that jut out of the ground. Bristlecone Loop is also a great hike through spruce-fir forests to cliffs with panoramic vistas.

Day 3

Depart Bryce Canyon

After your time here, it’s difficult to believe you could be treated to anything as spectacular but in just a few hours lies the most famous national park in America – the Grand Canyon.  Fancy something a little different? Then why not head to a traditional, working ranch where you and your family can live life like cowboys! It’s a brilliant experience for the whole family.
