Your day-by-day itinerary
Arrival in Jasper
If you’re arriving from the west, you’ll see the hills get steeper and the snow-capped mountains rise from the valleys. Soon, you’ll arrive at the picturesque town located in the heart of one of Canada’s most stunning National Parks – Jasper. It’s a short walk from your comfy hotel to the town’s shops and various restaurants. Get an early night though, as you’ve got an animal-appointment first thing!
Sunrise wildlife tour
It’s an early start today, as you’re picked up before sunrise for the best chance to see the local wildlife. You’ll be taken to some of the beautiful nearby lakes for some great photo opportunities, continuing to Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake, where you’ll hopefully be lucky enough to see some passing elk and caribou, and maybe even a black bear or some grazing moose in the nearby forests.
Arriving back at your accommodation late morning, it’s the perfect opportunity for a little rest and to soak up the views before exploring more of the National Park at your leisure in the afternoon. When you return in the evening, we recommend exploring the charming little town with its cosy theatres, bars, bistros and restaurants before you continue with your Canadian adventure.
We can book extra nights in Jasper of course, otherwise it’s time to continue your journey, either west to Wells Gray National Park and its famous waterfalls, or south on the awe-inspiring Icefields Parkway road lined by glaciers, turquoise lakes and fir trees. For older kids, the glacier walk is a really popular activity that breaks the journey up too!
