Often dubbed ‘Africa for beginners’, Namibia is famous for its incredibly diverse wildlife, including cheetahs, rhinos and giraffes, But, alongside the stunning landscapes is a touch of western influence – with beautiful colonial-era buildings and coastal towns.

Gaze down upon vast canyons, take in the surreal scenery in Deadvlei, meet traditional tribes with a local guide and search for wildlife on a safari to remember.

South Africa & family trips

The beaches, the wildlife, the wine, the weather – South Africa might just have it all! If you’re after the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino – this is the place for you, with some of the most accessible parks and reserves on the continent. Safari through the famous Kruger national park, with self-drive tours or join rangers on dedicated drives and walks.

South Africa doesn’t scrimp on its nature offerings either – with Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain, as well as stunningly scenic hikes and trails along the Cape coast. Oh, and did we mention the dramatic Garden Route?

South Africa is also perfect for families too, with year-round fine weather, an easy road network and enough activities to keep your mini your mini-zoologists entertained.

local peopleEthiopia

Ethiopia is home to some of the most incredible landscapes – from canyons to deserts, highlands and mountains. Venture out to the Simien and Bake mountains to trek at 3000m above sea level, before taking a trip to the Danakil Depression – one of the lowest places on the entire continent.

You might not think of wildlife as being Ethiopia’s main draw – but with some of the best bird-watching spots in Africa, as well as the native Ethiopian wolf and gelada monkeys,  it’s definitely the most underrated.

One of the greatest wildlife destinations in Africa, Botswana is home to both Chobe National Park (with more elephants than anywhere else on earth!) and Moremi Game Reserve, which has everything you could ever dream of. With big cats, antelope, and hundreds of birds, Botswana is straight out of an Attenborough documentary.

But it’s not just about wildlife, the landscapes here are breathtaking. Botswana has some of the largest stretches of desert on the planet, as well as the Makgadikgadi salt pans, and the famous Okavango Delta, which remains one of the last unspoiled wilderness areas in the whole of Africa. What more could you ask for?
