Arrival in Kurseong
Today, you’ll be collected from Bagdogra and transferred to Kurseong, a charming hill station with a cool climate. You’ll spend the night in a restored British colonial home at the foot of the snow-dusted Himalayas. You’ll be greeted with a view of the majestic Kanchenjunga, one of the highest mountains in the world. The rest of the day is free for your to explore the town at your own pace.
Toy train to Darjeeling
Today, you’ll take the scenic toy train from Kurseong to Darjeeling on the Himalayan Railway. Darjeeling is nestled between the Himalayan kingdoms of Bhutan and Nepal, surrounded by dramatic peaks. The scenic streets are narrow, steep and typically chaotic, lined with dozens of ramshackle stalls. In the market square, at the very top of the hill, you’ll find yourself encircled by snow-capped mountains. Here, you can amble through the tea fields and watch the pickers in action. You’ll spend two nights in a central, cosy hotel.
Darjeeling Surrounds & Departure
Today, you’ll set off for the top of Tiger Hill before sunrise, where the views are definitely worth the early wake up call. As the first beams of sunshine appear between the snow-capped Himalayas and the morning mist disappears from the valley, you’ll be stunned by the beauty that surrounds you. Next, you’ll drive to the oldest Buddhist monastery in Darjeeling before visiting a museum about the history of climbing in the Himalayas. Then, you’ll take a trip to the famous zoo with its rare red panda and snow leopard and finish off the day in the Tibetan refugee centre.
The next day you’ll grab your luggage and get ready to hit the road.
