1. Fort Barli
A must stop on your India trip is Fort Barli. Located in the tranquil village of Barli, far from tourist areas and bustling cities, is a majestic, historic fort which has now been partly transformed into a beautiful hotel. This peaceful stop in rural India is not to be missed!
2. Take the ‘toy train’ through the famous tea hills of Darjeeling
Close to the Himalayas and drenched in a vibrant emerald colour, the serene tea hills of Darjeeling are filled with Tibetan influence. Seeing these famous tea hills with your own eyes is an incredible experience!
3. Ranthambore National Park
Experience the nostalgic old world of the Maharajas and get close to nature at this National Park. You can expect to spot gazelles, crocodiles, samba deer and sloth bears, amongst many other beautiful species. Take a safari jeep out at sunrise and, if you’re lucky enough, you might even spot a wild tiger drinking from a lake.
4. Marari Beach in Kerala
Slow down entirely with a stay at the tranquil and idyllic Marari beach. Situated by a friendly fishing village, listen to the sound of the warm Indian Ocean lapping at the sand whilst you doze in a hammock under the palms. Dreamy!
5. Periyar National Park
Take a guided walking tour of this protected elephant and tiger reserve situated in the mountainous Western Ghats of Kerala, Southern India. Admire the natural beauty of this special, protected park and spot rare butterflies and bird species as you go.
Experience colonial history and ancient kingdoms within the northern region of Rajasthan. Capture inspiring photos of its vibrant cities including Jaipur, known as ‘the pink city’, and Jodhpur, ‘the blue city’. A stay in the hidden village of Narlai and hiking up Shiva Mountain is also a must, as is joining in with colourful festivals and exploring historic forts.

It’s crazy, chaotic and a little bizarre at times, but it’s a must if you want to immerse yourself in the real and authentic India.
9. Delving into a Thali plate on the streets of Jaipur
This is one for the curry fanatics! These humble, but incredibly tasty plates come cheap and will have you falling in love with Indian culture all over again! With a generous selection of mixed vegetarian dishes, this meal will have your eyes rolling back into your head with pure foodie delight.
