Arrival in Plettenberg Bay
When you arrive in Plettenberg Bay, you’ll settle into your charming guesthouse next to the beach. Home to a beautiful coastline fringed with beaches brilliant for swimming, the town has a holiday atmosphere and a carefree vibe. Packed with fresh seafood restaurants and sophisticated bars, it’s a great place to sit back for a scenic sundowner with a sweeping sea view.
Plettenberg Bay - Whale Watching Tour
Today you’ll set off on a dolphin or whale watching trip (depending on season). Between July and early December, you’ll go out on a small boat in search of whales breaching in the waves. The boats are permitted to get up to 50m away from the whales, so you’ll get a pretty close-up view. Outside of these months, you’ll take a dolphin trip instead, as these mammals glide through the waters all year round.
Departure from Plettenberg Bay
This trip ends after a leisurely breakfast. Before you head off you could go for one last walk along the beach. Be sure to keep out of the sand dunes though as this is where local shorebirds nest, in particular, the African Black Oyster Catcher and the White Fronted Plover. Their nests are really hard to spot and all too often are accidently trodden on!
