Arrival in Stellenbosch
Today you’ll travel to Stellenbosch, in the heart of the sweeping Cape Winelands. In this region alone, you’ll find more than 200 scenic wineries, scattered throughout the sun-kissed valley. Today is free for you to explore at your own pace. Try swinging past Oom Samie Se Winkel (Uncle Samie’s Store). You’ll stay in a guesthouse set amongst the wine estates with views of the surrounding hills.
Stellenbosch - Cycling
Today you’ll leave the major roads behind and head out on your bike. You’ll pedal along smaller paths between rolling vineyards, stopping several times to learn about the grape varieties and wine production process. You’ll visit two wineries and a brandy distillery to taste some of the specialities of the area. At the end of the cycling trip, your driver will drop you back off at your guesthouse.
Departure from Stellenbosch
To make the most of your last morning in Stellenbosch, you can visit one of the local museums. In the Village Museum, you find ancient wooden houses that have been restored to their former glory. The oldest house here, the Schreuder house, was built in 1709, making it one of the first buildings in Stellenbosch. Around midday, you’ll hop back in your hire car and head to your next destination.
