Fes - Chefchaouen
This morning your hire car will be dropped off at your accommodation in Fes, and you’ll set off for your 3-hour drive to this picturesque town of Chefchaouen to where your adventure will begin. The route will take you through lush green plains and massive rock peaks. In the distance the green hill country will make way for the immense rock formations of Jabal Tidiquin. This is the Rif Mountain Range’s highest mountain and it’s a great place to stop off and enjoy the view and the fresh mountain air. Tonight you’ll stay in a charming riad on the edge of the medina. The rooftop terrace has a lovely view across the village.
Trek in the Rif Mountains
Today you’ll continue into the Rif Mountains with your local guide. Roaming through the narrow blue streets of the medina you’ll come across fruit markets, spice stands and colourful shops. From here you’ll continue following the river until you walk right past the city walls. Then it’s time to hike further into the mountains. Along the way you’ll pass small farms and rivers. The Berbers live in small villages with flat roof houses built from boulders. This afternoon you’ll have a picnic in a mountain pasture as you look down on the wide valley. The walk ends in a small Berber village where a car will be waiting to take you back to your riad. In the evening you may want to indulge in the area’s speciality Bissara, a purée of dried beans.
Chefchaouen - Asilah

The riad is decorated in traditional Moroccan style and the terrace has a magnificent view of the sea. In the evening you’ll have a wide variety of local restaurants to choose from.

Proof of the city’s popularity among artists can be seen everywhere, you’ll pass countless frescos, most of which were created during the International Festivals that are held annually in August.
