Get the rock star experience in an Airstream

How about this for the ultimate American dream sleeper? A curvaceously dazzling Air Stream! These large trailers are an iconic US brand. They don’t just look striking, they’re super comfy too. There’s a separate double bedroom for parents and the couches in the kitchen/diner convert into beds for the kids. As you’d expect there are all mod cons here – high spec kitchen with hob, oven and fridge an even a microwave; hot water shower and loo. But it’s the interior we love most – with huge windows letting in the sunlight it’s a feast of dazzling chrome and retro styling.

Put your feet up at a cowboy ranch

Being the US of A, this is wild west country! And you can have your very own Lone Ranger experience by staying a night at a working cowboy ranch. Whilst you’re there you can learn how to lasso, explore the vast meadows and red rock canyons on horseback and learn all about the cowboy lifestyle. The ranch house offers all sorts of fun for kids too like a horseshoe pit and barrel races and mums and dads will love a drink or too in the saloon bar. Before you turn in for the night in you cosy wooden framed room there’s a country sing song around the campfire. Before you know it, you’ll be joining in the line dance! Yeehaa!

Glamp it up in star-gazing tent

A stone’s throw from the million year old pink and ochre rocks of Grand Canyon you can spend a night or two in a luxury star-gazing safari tent. Camping this most definitely isn’t! The Stargazer has a rooftop viewing window right above the kingsize bed. So you can lie on your back and look up at the brilliant starry sky! It’s really well set up with comfy beds for kids along with a  full ensuite bathroom. Other nice touches include a wood burner to keep you warm, a cosy veranda, firepit and zen garden. Chances are you won’t want to leave!

Be a pioneer in a covered wagon

In the late 18th century, covered wagons were home and transport for the pioneers making their way to new lives in the west. You’re unlikely to see any on the road these days, but they still make a memorable place to stay! With wooden floors, cowhide carpets and romantic oil lanterns these wagons are surprisingly roomy with king sized beds for parents and bunks for kids. They’re fully moveable – so they can be shunted around so you can ‘circle your wagons’ with friends around your flaming camp fire.
